excellent in delivering first aide for a wide range of conditions from stress,
insomnia, sport, recreation and work place injuries. Massage also has a positive
effect for those afflicted with Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and a
host of degenerative conditions.
Heal and prevent social and political conflict.
As well as the obvious health benefits, massage is also a very positive form
of recreation where families and friends who massage each other will find mental
and emotional support and the strength to maintain relationships.
Massage is a way to the “Self”
A compassionate and intimate healing discipline and
an initiation or
journey into the mystery of our bodies.

Contra Indications For Massage
If there are Any of the following conditions, avoid massage unless you
have medical massage training
-
Acute inflammation, redness or swelling
-
Marked breathing difficulty
-
Fever
-
Skin rash
-
Varicose veins
-
A healthy condition of the skin is necessary for massage. Injuries, burns,
sores, suppurations and eczema prohibit massage.
-
Scars must be firm. Inflamed or swollen joints
should not be treated, nor should
any other inflammations. These are the province of the medical profession.
- Any feverish case of illness, or indeed any indication of a
condition other than good organic health, should prohibit massage.
Preparation of Masseur/Masseuse
You are about to perform an intimate personal service, so you should be
clinically clean, personally attractive and in
good heart.
Things you need to perform a massage
While a massage table is ideal, a
couple of folded blankets on the floor or a firm bed will work.
Massage oils - these can be purchased from most health stores and some
supermarkets.
Massage Room Preparation
It should be comfortable, clean, warm (around 20 – 25 degrees), and private.
Everything must be fresh and clean for each client. Massage mediums and
all requirements should be at
hand to prevent disturbance of the treatment. Relaxing or inspirational music
often supports treatments and a burning candle and incense help to create
ambience.
The Client or 'Victim'
The reason people come for a massage is because they want to feel good.
Perhaps it is to break down the tensions built up, or to soothe aching
muscles. So it is your role to treat them and their body in a way that allows
them to relax and feel good.
Client and Masseur/Masseuse
Adopt a position where you are comfortable, only then can you effectively
utilise your technique.
