Massage > Therapeutic and Remedial Massage
What distinguishes remedial and therapeutic massage from any other?
The key difference is that remedial or therapeutic massage is a paramedical treatment that helps to
restore function to injured "soft tissues" (muscles, tendons and ligaments).
While all massage by its very nature is therapeutic, remedial and therapeutic
massage goes that one step further in attempting to identify the 'cause' as
well as restoring vitality, easing tight muscles, and relieving aches and
pains.
Therapeutic and Remedial Massage helps to relieve the general aches and pains
caused by sport and over exertion, but can also be used specifically for lover
back and neck pain, repetitive strain injury or occupational overuse syndrome.
All massage systems help and most therapists when treating actual symptoms
generally perform a combination of relaxation and deep tissue massage. They may
include limb movements and stretches, or acupressure; the options are endless as
new discoveries are continually being made and human nature is evolving.
So when your body is suffering from some affliction that is not a disease, you
would ask for therapeutic massage to remedy the problem.
Common problems helped by remedial massage are; general muscular aches and
pains, frozen shoulder, RSI or OOS, tennis elbow, fluid retention, Parkinson's
disease, osteo arthritis and many others.
