Meditation > Why Meditation?
Relaxation,
insight, understanding, problem solving, peace, improved health and vitality are
all valid reasons to meditate.
Meditation is a quintessential human trait, characteristic or skill that has
served humanity for millennia to understand life and create a happier future.
During meditation, the mind becomes absorbed by the subject of the meditation.
Without mental activity the body relaxes releasing stored stress which allows
slower and deeper breathing, improved metabolism and consequently, improved
health.
With regular meditation practitioners often experience a deep relaxation and an
inner peacefulness and the peace is contagious. The followers of the late
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi - (the founder of the
Transcendental Meditation program) have compiled a great deal of research data
supporting the hypothesis that by meditating, the person(s) meditating will
create peace within their family and community.
Happiness is a spiritual condition, a result of spiritual practice, of 'right
thinking' and positivity.
