Yoga > Asana > Introduction

Asana is generally translated as pose or posture and this is correct as when sitting in padmasana or a similar posture when meditating, however a more accurate description is the yoga system of physical exercises the tone, increase suppleness or flexibility and strengthen the body, and balance all bodily systems.

Asana enhances:

Physical fitness including strength, flexibility and balance.
